In a world where sustainability and efficiency are becoming increasingly important, we at BlueID have launched an innovative project that addresses precisely these challenges. Thanks to the approval of the research allowance, we can now work on redesigning the future of electronic lock cylinders.

Challenge: Increasing safety requirements and energy requirements

Millions of digital locking cylinders are already in use across Germany — and demand continues to grow. These technologies have become essential to meet modern safety requirements. However, the challenges are also growing: The encryption technologies currently used are becoming less secure over time and require more and more energy, which leads to frequent battery changes or complex wired installations.

Our goal: energy self-sufficiency through ambient radiation

Our innovative approach aims to develop lock cylinders that do not require an external power supply. The highlight: We want to generate energy directly from ambient electromagnetic radiation, which is already present in typical environments such as offices. So-called “energy harvesting” uses the energy of radio, Bluetooth, WiFi or GSM signals to autonomously supply the cylinder.

More safety, less maintenance

With our new approach, we combine efficiency with a high level of safety. Optimized encryption and authentication procedures ensure that the lock cylinders not only require less energy, but are also more resistant to threats. The goal is a sustainable solution that minimizes installation and maintenance costs without sacrificing safety.

This development means that frequent battery changes can be a thing of the past and reduce the burden on the environment due to lower resource consumption. Convenience for users increases — simple installation, low maintenance costs and, at the same time, the highest security standards make the new lock cylinder a perfect solution for modern building management.

Research allowance as a pacemaker for innovation

The approval of the research allowance is an important milestone for us. It enables us to research pioneering technologies, set new safety standards and make our contribution to a more sustainable world. The funding gives us the opportunity to implement our vision of an energy-independent lock cylinder step by step.
